WEEK Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Felix. Felix Is a very sweet, friendly cat but prefers to keep a little to himself. Cuddles and scratches are his favorite pastimes. He’s got the chunkiest cheeks you just want to pinch.

Area high school seniors receive Good Citizen awards

The Paisano Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution presented DAR Good Citizen Awards to seniors from five area high schools at an awards ceremony onApril 2, held in the hospitality room of the First Presbyterian Church of Alpine.

Our deepest appreciation On behalf of Jerry Johnson and his family, we would like to express our appreciation for the love and support the community of Alpine has shown. Thank you to the American Legion Post 79 in honoring Jerry’s military career at the memorial services at Elm Grove Cemetery.

Time to move on from vouchers

Right now, the Texas legislature is spending a disproportionate amount of time fighting over something that isn’t good for Texas and doesn’t align with Texan values: vouchers. Vouchers are publicly- funded entitlements that divert taxpayer funds to private or home schools without any accountability or transparency.

Baca takes district boys’ golf title

Alpine competes against four schools in the district for golf; Odessa Compass, Kermit, Crane and Stanton. District tournaments took place these last two weeks in Monahans and Fort Stockton, with district play concluding in Fort Stockton on April 5.
