Rain

Body
Rain is such a gift in the dessert. The dry, cracked dirt cries out for relief. So the heart cries out for goodness and healing in seasons of drought. When difficulty comes, a person’s thoughts can either help or hurt them. Free will grants us that choice.

Pros and cons of meal subscription plans

Body
From time to time, I feel it is a clever idea to subscribe to one of the several meal subscriptions plans available because I just want something different to eat. Another, and perhaps the biggest reason is because I can have the ingredients sent to my house, and I don’t have to grocery shop. This is good and bad, the positive aspect being that I can select a plan that is healthy and with proper portioning without buying extra ingredients. For example, you can’t just buy one carrot. The negative aspect can be the cost.

Fresh, new face for Porter’s in Alpine

Body
Thanks to the Porter family legacy, the basic needs for the Big Bend area have been provided for generations now. As such, Alpine has become a hub for surrounding towns and travelers.

If you’re going to replace the ceiling, you replace everything under it.” — Trae Dutchover, general manager of the Van Horn, Presidio, Marfa, Fort Davis, and Alpine stores

The City of Alpine held its regularly scheduled city council meeting on Sept. 20, and a proposed monument honoring women in the military, code enforcement issues, and a strategic plan for the city drove the discussions.
