Cheerleaders lead the charge

Body
The Bucks cheerleaders put in countless hours of work while the sports teams they root for get most of the attention. They are showcased at all the games they attend and all the community events where they appear, but the cheerleaders also do a lot behind the scenes as well.

Band makes community proud

Body
The Alpine Buck Band is a large organization of musicians who strive for excellence year in and year out. Our young musicians work hard to master their instruments, and to understand how music and its discipline can have a positive impact on their entire life.

Over reach

Body
You said over reach? I am a resident of Brewster County. I live outside the Alpine city limits.

A box of chocolates

Body
If someone gets struck by lightning, tests positive for COVID, and is bitten by a rattlesnake at the same time, what is the cause of death? What is the result of vaccination? Child of 12: “Lightning because it’s quicker;” “Food reward.” Rattlesnake handler: “Lack of faith;” “Hellfire.” Centers for Disease Control: “Lightning-enhanced and venom-enhanced COVID” “Compliance.” Individuality, a valued human characteristic protected by the U.S. Constitution, allows perceptions as wide apart as those of the child and the snake handler.

Masks, please

Body
It’s been many years since my last letter of public appeal through the Avalanche. If wearing a mask might help one child stay healthy, isn’t that enough incentive for the school board to put it on an agenda, discuss it, and vote?

Respect

Body
The school year has started at Alpine ISD, and I want to take a moment to thank our parents and community for entrusting us to serve your children. It is refreshing to have the students back in class and participating in activities. We appreciate the support you have shown the Lady Bucks and Bucks in the past few weeks.
