The Alpine ISD Board of Trustees met on Wednesday, September 17, with all members present. Board President Eddie Natera presided, and Superintendent Michelle Rinehart guided the meeting.

Culberson County Treasurer Adrian Hinojos is proud to transfer the reins of the Regional Director to Brewster County Treasurer Julie Morton, who has been voted Regional Director for Region 4 of the County Treasurers Association of Texas (CTAT). Her region consists of 11 counties, and Julie will serve a 2-year term beginning September 2025.

Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association President Carl Ray Polk Jr. released the following statement on Monday after the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) confirmed a New World screwworm (NWS) case less than 70 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border: “With the recent detection of New World screwworm just 70 miles south of Texas’ border, TSCRA remains actively engaged with the USDA, Texas Animal Health Commission (TAHC), and Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) to intensify surveillance, coordinate response efforts, and prepare cattle raisers and landowners for any potential incursion.

The Alpine City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, with all councilors present. Alpine Mayor Catherine Eaves presided.

The Alpine Emergency Services Board (AESB) met last Wednesday for its regular meeting. The meeting was presided over by Chairman Rusty Moore, and directors Albert Benitez and Mark Rose were unable to attend.

The Big Bend Chamber of Commerce (BBCC) met on Thursday, September 11, to elect new officers for the board, hold its annual membership meeting, and wrap up business for the fiscal year. At the beginning of the meeting, the interim president, Katheran Crawford, announced to the board and audience that there were no written minutes available for the July meeting.
