New executive director named for The Chinati Foundation

The Board of Trustees of The Chinati Foundation/ La Fundación Chinati has announced the appointment of Caitlin Murray as its new executive director. Murray was previously director of archives and programs at Judd Foundation, where she has worked since 2008. Murray, who was chosen after an international search, will begin her position at Chinati in mid-May.

Sul Ross theater department still going strong

The Sul Ross State University theater department will present a new play this week. Beginning tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m., the first performance of Silent Sky will be held in the Marshall Auditorium on the Alpine campus.

Sunshine House joins March for Meals

The March for Meals celebration is a monthlong, nationwide celebration of Meals on Wheels that our senior neighbors rely on to remain healthy and independent while at home. Sunshine House, Inc. will be participating in this 21st annual event.

The regular meeting of the Brewster County Commissioners Court was held on March 14 at 9:30 a.m. Of importance was the continuation of the burn ban for the county and an update for the county website. Commissioner Pct. 4, William ‘Mo’ Morrow was absent.

School board talks attendance and grant awards

The regularly scheduled meeting of the Alpine ISD Board of Trustees was held on March 8 at 5:30 p.m. at the AISD administration building. The focus of the meeting was attendance improvement and grant awards to help make up funding shortages not allocated by the state. Board members Haley Babb and Dr. Adrian Billings were not in attendance.
