The Great Gatsby: Celebrate a century-old literary icon

It’s been 100 years since F. Scott Fitzgerald penned and published The Great Gatsby. This iconic novel portrays the American Dream of wealth and the social decay of the Roaring 20s, and what better way to pay homage to Fitzgerald’s work or that time in history than to re-create some of the eats and drinks of the time.

Paisano Girls’ Camp to be held in June

The Paisano Girls’ Mission Camp will be held this year, June 2-6, at the Davis Mountain Resort Baptist Church just west of Fort Davis. Due to the rising cost of food, this year’s camp will cost $125 per person, including counselors. The camp will have the same Bible study format, missions time, music, style show, tea party, and other favorite activities. Girls who finished second through sixth grade are invited to be campers, and girls who finished seventh through 12th grade are invited to be junior counselors. On the list of additional activities are movies, board games, talent spotlight, and more. House bill proposes new standardized test A Texas House bill would eliminate the State of Texas Assessment of Academic Readiness test and replace it with a test comparing students’ performance to one another rather than state-set standards, the Austin American- Statesman reported.
