As some of you already know, one of my daughters is attending school at the University of Alaska at Anchorage. She managed to earn a track scholarship. She will be graduating in May with minimal debt. It makes me awfully proud to be able to profess this, as she is the athlete that I never was.

At the last Alpine City Council meeting, our Interim City Manager reported on our infrastructure that is in need of repair or replacement. This will be a costly undertaking. The infrastructure has been neglected for many years, and with growth comes the realization that there is need for major improvements, and the interim city manager is tasked with how that will be accomplished.

Recently Texas passed the Safe Outdoor Dogs Act that enforces humane guidelines for restraining pet canines outdoors. Unfortunately for me, the act fails to impose similar guidelines for the treatment of grouchy husbands and embarrassing dads.

I was listening to Betse Esparza’s podcast the other day when she was interviewing the GOP candidates for Brewster County judge. I listened as each candidate stated their positions, then at the end of the interview she asked this question: “Is Joe Biden the legitimate President of the United States?

Placing their right hands over their hearts, they take a moment to pause and appreciate the independent spirit of our beloved Lone Star State.
