It’s retirement time for well-liked and successful Alpine High School Band Director Chuck Wilson, who recently announced his departure after 20 years at the podium. Originally from El Paso, Wilson became the high school band director in fall 2001, and has been a key component of both the middle and high school band programs since then.

Callie Stech and Todd Peters were united in marriage on Nov. 20, 2021, at Bethany Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, Texas, with Pastor Casey Zesch officiating.

Brewster County Commissioners Court held its regularly scheduled meeting on Dec. 14 and announced that District Clerk Jo Ann Salgado would retire effective Dec.

On Dec. 1 Border Patrol Big Bend Sector agents with the assistance of Big Bend National Park rangers apprehended a large group of undocumented non-citizens south of Alpine.

Early on Dec. 14 a Brewster County deputy observed a suspicious vehicle traveling north on U.S. Highway 118. Due to the large number of recent incidents involving individuals attempting to circumvent U.S. Border Patrol checkpoints, t h e deputy maintained visual contact with the vehicle, and assisted Border Patrol agent on a vehicle inspection once at the checkpoint.
