Body What are you especially looking forward to in your senior year? Seeing all the people I have worked hard with succeed in life. What activities are you involved in during your senior year? I am a part of the student advisory council and part of the Art dark skies project.

Body The University of Texas at Austin’s McDonald Observatory will hold its first Dark Skies Festival Friday and Saturday, April 29-30. The festival will include daytime and evening events for the whole family, plus the debut of the new “Preserving Dark Skies” exhibit in the Frank N.

Body American Legion Auxiliary 79, the auxiliary to the local Big Bend post, awarded prizes to the winners in its fundraiser on April 15. Fern Scudday won a $100 gift card to Porters, Marla Fuentez won a $200 gift card from Cobos Lube, and Tony Mele won a $300 gift card to Porters.

Body BBT is participating in the Affordable Connectivity Program, a Federal Communications Commission program. The new long-term benefit will help to lower the cost of broadband service for eligible households struggling to afford internet service.

Body The City of Alpine held its regularly scheduled city council meeting on April 19, and settled the issue of permitting coin-operated machine establishments, or slot-machine casinos, to operate in the city, with a maximum of 20-coin operated machines per establishment.
