Aphids give rise to black sooty mold

Body
Dear Neil: My crepe myrtles are covered with aphids, as are those in the neighborhood. Have I just not noticed them before, or is this an especially bad year for them? Is it too late in the season to worry about spraying for them?

What is a Christian?

Body
In the fourth century, a young Egyptian peasant named Pachomius was abducted and forced into the Roman army, a common occurrence in that time. While awaiting transport up the Nile, Pachomius languished in a jail. Local Christians arrived with food, water, and other supplies to care for him and the other conscripts. Pachomius was puzzled by these odd people who showed concern for prisoners. He asked who they were.

Queen crunch casserole and technology

Body
Noting that the title of this piece mentions the word queen, I thought the correlation between the late monarch and her life and reign, along with the title of this dish and how it is prepared, would provide an interesting stream of thought. That the late queen grew up during the devastation that was World War II had to be frightening. Despite that conflict and turmoil, an invention came about that we all use today. Invented by a Jewish man, the very people who were victims of one of the greatest tragedies this world has witnessed, came greatness.

County focuses on collecting unpaid tax

Body
The problem of uncollected hotel motel occupancy taxes has been a hot topic of much discussion in Brewster County, with many consequences on the line affecting both the county and hotel-motel operators. Having all hoteliers, including short-term rental/air-bnb owners pay their fair share of hotel motel occupancy taxes not only contributes to doing business the right way while stimulating the local economy, but it also trickles down to other county needs such as infrastructure, roads, and more that county residents need.
