The Museum of the Big Bend, located on the campus of Sul Ross State University, has recently announced the dates for the 39th Annual Trappings of Texas exhibit. Trappings of Texas is the longest-running exhibit and sale dedicated to Western art and custom cowboy gear.

On July 26, scouting volunteers Hector Holguin, Susan Billings, and Selena Martin received the District Award of Merit from the Buffalo Trail Council, Scouting America. The awards were presented at the Adult Leadership Appreciation Dinner held in Alpine and honored these volunteer scouters who have rendered service of an outstanding nature in the Big Bend District.

Besides their stellar track accomplishments while at AHS, Hatfield Cason and Danica Mulholland excelled in academia, while Hannah Juett excelled on the volleyball court and the softball diamond as well as in academia.

The Brewster County Commissioners Court held a special budget workshop Tuesday morning to continue work on the county’s 2026 fiscal year budget. All commissioners were present, with Brewster County Judge Greg Henington presiding.

The Alpine City Council met for its regularly scheduled meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with all council members present.
