Alpine Elementary’s third and fourth graders spent last Thursday in Marfa at the U.S. Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector Headquarters learning about what they do to secure our borders and what vehicles and instruments, such as helicopters, four-wheelers, and drones that they use in their job. This year’s Outstanding Teacher of the Year for 2023-2024 was awarded to Assistant Professor of Music, Dr. Andrew Alegria. This honor was announced on April 30 by Executive Vice President and Provost Bernie Cantens.

Two Sul Ross State University graduate students of Counseling-Clinical Mental Health are each the recipients of a $10,000 grant through a partnership with the University of Texas El Paso and Preventative Care Health Services (PCHS).
