Growing as a team while fully challenged

Body
The Alpine Lady Bucks knew going into last weekend’s volleyball tournament that they would be out gunned to say the least. Alpine and 25 other schools from all around West Texas competed in the 47th Annual Monahans tournament. The Lady Bucks are a young team this year after losing six starters from last year, but the fight that is in this younger sophomore class and some experience with the older girls helped push the team all weekend.

It’s tag ordering time

Body
It is time once again to order sheep and goat state validation tags for the spring major stock shows. These tags are only for the major shows. Those showing only at the Brewster County show in Alpine will not need one of these tags. Those unsure about showing at any major shows should visit with their 4-H or FFA sponsor, or go ahead and purchase the tags. This is a one-time purchase.

Marfa silversmith rocks with gemstone business

Body
Marfa is internationally known as a funky arts hub, but another reason why it’s worthwhile to venture out is to take a glimpse at a billion-yearold fossil among other dazzling rocks, minerals, and unique jewelry items not found in a typical jewelry shop. Just ask Marfa resident Paul Graybeal, a silver smith who has owned Moonlight Gemstones since 1989.
