Black Gap designated as dark sky sanctuary

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department recently announced that Black Gap Wildlife Management Area has been designated as an International Dark Sky Sanctuary by the International Dark-Sky Association. Black Gap WMA is the second TPWD property to receive the sanctuary designation, joining Devils River State Natural Area-Del Norte Unit that was designated as a Dark Sky Sanctuary in 2019.

Old Fashioned Chicken and Dumplings

Prep Time: 20 minutes Cook Time: 1 Hour Total time: 1 hour 20 minutes Ingredients 3 cups chicken (about 2-3 chicken breasts) 2 quarts chicken broth 2 cups all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 2 tablespoons cold salted butter, cubed 1 cup milk 2 tablespoons olive oil salt and pepper to taste Directions: Preheat oven to 350F degrees. Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.

New Director plants seeds of learning at Christian School

It’s the start of a new school year at Alpine Christian School, and Bobby Duncan is excited to welcome students back after the summer break. Duncan is the new executive director, and has been associated with the school since 2008, having served in a variety of capacities - as director, treasurer, and executive director in 2017.
