Library hosts valentine event

Everyone is invited to a “Do It Yourself Valentine Making” event this Friday, February 13, at the Jeff Davis County Library. Interested parties may drop by the library at any time from noon until 2 p.m. on Friday to craft a unique valentine, write a love letter or poem, and get creative and have fun. All supplies are provided by the library. This free program is sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Free tree giveaway

The City of Alpine and Keep Alpine Beautiful will host a FREE tree giveaway on Saturday, February 21, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Kokernot Municipal Park, at the baseball fields near the city pool. This giveaway is made possible by the Apache Corporation Tree Grant Program, and trees will be given away while supplies last. Fort Davis to hold blood drive

Fort Davis will be holding a blood drive on Thursday, March 5 at the Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Vitalant with their team of medical professionals from Odessa will be conducting the services. Vitalant holds blood drives in the tricounty area throughout the year, most recently at the Alpine Police Department.

Alpine clarinetist to perform in All-State Band

Alpine High School clarinet player Jake Vega was selected out of more than 10,000 high school band students in Texas who auditioned to be a part of the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) All-State Band. The top chairs in each of the 22 different regions in the state auditioned to become the top 286 selected for the allstate honors.
