A new board, the Alpine Emergency Services Board, colloquially referred to as the Alpine Fire department, has been established to oversee the emergency services for the area. The seven-member board is made up of local citizens and is a joint effort between the city and the county.

More than 115 years of dancing at the Post

Marilyn Shackelford, 82, and a Marathon native, began dancing at the Post in 1945 at age four. Coincidentally, her first dance was with her long-time beau and husband Macky Shackelford, who was five at the time of their first dance.

Holy Angels seeking donations

The Holy Angels Cemetery Association is seeking donations to repair water wells and to clean up the cemetery. This organization works to build community awareness and involvement in the upkeep and maintenance of the Holy Angels Cemetery.
