Alpine Public Library looking to the future

The Alpine Public Library has been working for the past few years on fundraising for expanding their current location. With plans to expand the south and west sides of the building, the demolition is imminent to begin this project.
Local construction company Resnew Properties began demolition on the covered patio located on the west side of the Alpine Public Library last Friday. The old materials, such as the metal roofing and structural beams are being donated to the City of Alpine to be used in future construction projects.

School board approves tax rate, celebrates grants

The Alpine ISD board of trustees met last Wednesday, September 20 for their regularly scheduled meeting. Of importance on the agenda was discussion and approval of the tax rate for the 2023-2024 school year, along with news on grants received by the district.

City council approves first reading of tax rate

The Alpine city council held its regularly scheduled meeting at 5:30 p.m. as well as a workshop regarding city employees and the 2023-2024 tax rate at 4:30 p.m. on September 19. The council approved all of the consent agenda items during this meeting.

Runnin’ Bucks take 2nd and 3rd in Presidio

According to Alpine Cross Country Coach Cory Cason, the Presidio course is the most difficult course they will run all year. “It is a great warmup as the varsity travels to the Lubbock Invitational this weekend to preview the regional championship course which is also pretty tough.”

Alpine Bucks fall to non-district Broncos

The Alpine Fightin’ Bucks football was beaten 45-18 in Friday’s non-district away challenge against the Sonora Broncos. The Bucks now sport a 1-3 record, where they’ll take the field against Compass Academy for a 2-3A Region I District 1 challenge on Friday, September 22. Alpine will meet a team coming off a 27-24 nondistrict win over Water Valley, whose record now stands at 2-2.

Lady Bucks beat Buena Vista, fall to Monahans

“Our program has improved in all aspects of the game,” said Adrian Smith, head volleyball coach for the Alpine Lady Bucks, after the team’s games against the Buena Vista Longhorns on Tuesday and the Monahans Lobos on Saturday. The Alpine team won the nondistrict game against the Longhorns 3-0 and had played the team previously during the Best of the West tournament, which Alpine also prevailed with a 2-0 winning score.
