BBRHD announces spring grant cycle

The Big Bend Regional Hospital District (BBRHD) is a bi-county hospital district that serves Brewster and Presidio Counties. The management, control, and administration of all funds and resources of the district are vested in the Board of Directors. Our primary mission is to provide the Presidio Brewster County Indigent Health Care Program to our bi-county residents in a quality and costeff ective manner.

Alpine’s Hotel Occupancy Tax grant applications opened March 9

Applications are now being accepted for Hotel Occupancy Tax (HOT) grants from the City of Alpine for the 2026-2027 fiscal year. Visitor events and other projects that draw overnight visits to the City are eligible for funding consideration, according to the requirements of state law.

CDRI’s cactus and succulent sale begins Monday

Beautiful golden barrel and claret cup cactus, Astrophytum, Queen Victoria and whale’s tongue agave, sotol, and many other species will be offered for sale at the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute’s (CDRI) cactus and succulent Sale.

Primary turnout smashes recent midterm records Nearly 4.5 million Texans voted in the Democratic and Republican primaries, according to The Texas Tribune, surpassing recent turnout numbers. A total of 2.3 million ballots were cast in the Democratic primary and 2.2 million in the Republican primary, marking the first time Democratic turnout was higher since 2020.

AHS golf bringing home wins

The AHS golf teams have been traveling around West Texas lately, competing against weather and other golfers in the region. Last week was a good week for AHS golf, with the boys’ JV team taking the win in Marfa, along with an individual spot on the podium by Thaddeus Prieto, as he placed third by shooting 102.
