Commissioners address fireworks, retirement

The Brewster County Commissioners’ Court held a special meeting on Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. to address some last-minute business before the holidays. Brewster County Judge Greg Henington presided, and all commissioners were in attendance, except Pct. 3 Commissioner Ruben Ortega.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carley Carrico Lethco, who left us on November 27, 2025, at the age of 76. Born on April 21, 1949, in Baird, she attended Baird High School, where she was a drum majorette, graduating in 1967. Pursuing higher education, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in English from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene and her Master’s in Education from Sul Ross University in Alpine. Carley dedicated nearly 40 years to teaching, sharing her passion for education and English with countless students.
