Like most of the communities in the Big Bend, Fort Davis sees its share of spring break families strolling down the main street on their way to visit businesses and restaurants. .

The Alpine ISD Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on Wednesday, March 12, at 5:30 p.m. in the library of Alpine Elementary School.

The Alpine City Council held its regular meeting on Tuesday, with all council members present. Ward 5 Councilor Rick Stephens presided as mayor pro-tem in the absence of Mayor Catherine Eaves.

Although the U.S. has not seen New World Screwworm (NWS) since it was eradicated in 1966, the parasite is on the rise south of the border.

The Alpine Lady Bucks continue topping the podium or at least bringing home hardware from recent track and field competitions. They traveled to Wink for the Wildcat Relays last Thursday with a full team, with the varsity taking second overall, just 10 points behind their hosts, while the JV team placed fourth and brought home several medals.

The Fightin’ Bucks dominated the competition over the weekend, putting together four commanding victories to improve their record to 8-4. Alpine showed just how dangerous they can be when firing on all cylinders with explosive innings, clutch hitting, and dominant pitching performances.

At Sul Ross State University, our alumni are the backbone of our institution’s past, present, and future. Their contributions extend far beyond their time as students, shaping the legacy of our university and reinforcing the values that make Sul Ross a unique and cherished institution.
