WEEK Meet Binx! Binx is a sibling to last week’s Pet of the Week Draco and was also surrendered as part of a neglect case with seven siblings. He is fantastic with other dogs and does great with play groups.

AVFD holds extrication and rescue training

The Alpine Volunteer Fire Department held its first Auto Tech I class for the area this past weekend. In conjunction with TNT Rescue Systems, members from the Alpine VFD, Marathon VFD, Terlingua VFD, Presidio VFD, Ojinaga VFD, Dove Creek VFD, and Helotes VFD participated in a three-day course that consisted of lecture as well as hands-on training.

County Clerk’s office announces holiday closures

Due to the holidays, we will have various closures for the following months. Our office and the courthouse will be closed November 2828 for the Thanksgiving holiday. On December 10-11, the clerk’s office will be closed to attend a Vitals Conference. The office and the courthouse will close on Christmas Eve, December 24, and remain closed through December 27. The clerk’s office and the courthouse will also be closed on January 1 for New Year’s.

AlpineTXPhoto Gallery opens at Alpine Visitor Center

The City of Alpine is pleased to announce a new permanent gallery in the Alpine Visitor Center, dedicated to displaying all of the city’s #AlpineTXPhoto Contest’s first-place winners. The Visitor Center will host an opening reception for the gallery at 5:30 p.m.

Nellie Allen Rice

Nellie Allen Rice celebrated her heavenly reward on November 10, when she passed away peacefully from this life. Nellie was born to Clyde and Mertie Bell Allen on July 9, 1927, in Comanche. She was preceded in death by her brothers Joe, Bill, George, and John Allen and sisters Eulene Morgan, Grace Sparks, Minnie Allen, Neva Howard, and Edna Buckmaster. Nellie was active in the Hamilton Community, including the Extension Homemakers, for over 40 years and a member of the Providence Piece Makers Quilting Group. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and Littleville Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years.
