Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Tuco! Tuco is a very loving and outgoing dog. He is a oneyear- old Black Mouth Cur who loves long walks or runs but is also a great cuddling partner. He loves to be around people and will ask for belly rubs. He would be a great addition to any family.

The Marathon High School graduating class of 1946 will hold their commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 24 at 8 p.m. A total of six seniors will be walking the stage, including Cornelia Bennett the valedictorian and salutatorian Diana Hampton. The Rev. Francis Juaniz of Alpine will deliver the commencement address.

A Cinco de Mayo celebration will be held at the Sul Ross auditorium tomorrow evening at 6 p.m. The celebration will consist of a program of Mexican songs and dances, celebrating the Mexican national fiesta. The celebration will end with a dance until midnight in the sessions room of the A.T.U. hall located on the Southside of Alpine.

A formal opening, by invitation only will be held next Monday for Dr. Joel E. Wright’s new hospital plant. The new hospital is located just across the street and just south of the Brewster County Courthouse. The building boasts the proper hospital area, plus a three-room annex, a private cabin, and a two car garage.
