The Alpine Fightin’ Buck golf teams were spread out across West Texas last week, with the boys’ JV team competing in Pecos, the boys’ varsity competing in Iraan, David Baca and Ace Granado competing in Andrews, and the girls’ team also played in Iraan for the first time as a complete team.

If anyone in Kermit on Saturday thought the Alpine Varsity Fightin’ Lady Bucks were intimidated by the defending Class 3A state champions, they didn’t stay confused for long.

This past week, the varsity boys and girls traveled to McCamey, with the boys’ team finishing in 1st place with a team score of 348. Ace Granado shot 80 and finished in 2nd place; David Baca shot 81 and placed 3rd.

Fort Davis High School Tennis is off to a tremendous start this season, and the energy around the program is building with every match. The team opened the year at the JV tournament in Big Lake and returned home with an impressive title, Team Champions.

The Alpine Fightin’ Lady Bucks placed third this past weekend at the Concho Classic Softball Tournament in San Angelo. “It was a very productive weekend for our program,” Head Coach Chris Virdell said.
