Alpine ISD receives donations from local groups
The Alpine ISD Board of Trustees held their regular meeting on Wednesday, October 11 at the Alpine ISD Administration Building. Trustee Haley Babb, Single Member District 5, and Trustee Joe Portillo, Single Member District 2 were absent.
Commissioners court approves purchase for explosive detection canine
The Brewster County Commissioners Court held its regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, October 24. During the announcement portion of the meeting, Pct. 4 Commissioner and representative for the county appraisal district, Mo Morrow, shared that a new chief appraiser has been hired for the county.
Animal population still struggles with drought but benefits from spring rain
Despite the rain that Alpine enjoyed recently, the Big Bend area has persisted through the ongoing drought that is tough on its people, water table, and wildlife. Not long ago, Brewster County renewed its burn ban, even with precipitation expected in the near future.
TxDot’s international bridge is now officially open
On Tuesday morning, community leaders, and local, state, federal, and international officials were on hand for the offi cial ceremonial ribbon cutting for the new Presidio International Bridge that is owned and operated by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT).
