Hallien Hart Stewart, a cherished soul whose warmth and kindness brightened the lives of many, passed away on September 8 in Terlingua at the age of 64. Born on January 24, 1960, in the vibrant city of Austin, Hallien’s life was a testament to love, compassion, and unwavering devotion.

Sue Bradford Anthony

Sue Bradford Anthony, 77, passed away on Saturday, June 8, in Austin after a battle with metastatic breast cancer. Sue was born in Alpine on October 28, 1946. Sue graduated from Alpine High School and attended Sul Ross State University. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Art from the University of Texas of the Permian Basin. Before moving to Austin, Sue was a member of the Highland Methodist Church in Odessa and completed the Walk to Emmaus in 2000 to become a member of the Odessa De Dolores Rama Group. Sue began her career as a commercial artist for Price Womack and continued working as a commercial artist for PIP Printing, The Odessa American, and Odessa College. Sue decided to share her knowledge as one of the originating instructors at the ECISD Career Center. Sue became an Alpha Sigma Lambda Sorority member while teaching and attending school to receive her teaching certificate. She and her students were very active in the SkillsUSA programs, and both she and her students received many accolades during their competitions. She touched too many hearts to count and helped countless teenagers navigate through troubled times. She will be forever missed. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Mary Bradford of Monahans; daughter, Rebecca White of Lubbock; son, Billy Gibson, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; daughter, Modelle Gonzalez and husband, Vince Gonzalez, of Austin; daughter, Rachel Anthony of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Alexandria Stowers of Lubbock; Emily Marichalar and husband, Chris Kubala, of San Marcos; great-children, Delilah and Natalie Kubala of San Marcos; Jay Stowers of Lubbock; and many nieces, nephews, cousins. A private family burial will be held in Alpine at the Elm Grove Cemetery on September 28. A public Celebration of Life for Sue is planned for the same day, beginning at 1 p.m. at the Cactus Rose house on Cabell Drive in the Alpine Country Club Estates.

Glenn Richard Standly passed away on August 3. He was born in Bynum to Charlie Lloyd and Flora Mackey Standly on January 17, 1944. Glenn was a 1962 graduate of Hillsboro High School before matriculating at then Abilene Christian College where he met and married the love of his life, Cheryl “Charlie” Keetch. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from ACC and later enhanced his education with a Master’s degree from Texas Tech University in Lubbock.

Samuel Andrew Morgan Powell, “Drew”, 61, beloved husband, father, and brother, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 14. He was born in Alexandria, Virginia, on January 9, 1963. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, August 31 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, 301 Hays Country Acres Rd, Dripping Springs; telephone: (512) 8584924.
