WEEK Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Whiskey. Whiskey is a four-year-old Shepherd mix who loves to sit with people as much as he loves playing in the yard. This boy is happy to load up in a truck with no problem if you want to go on a cruise because he likes to feel the wind in his fur.

Dear Neil: I was on a nature hike in North Texas a week ago and came across this pretty, but really oddlooking little tree. What is it, and would it ever work in a home landscape? It has several names.

Sul Ross State University has adopted a new tagline to go with its recent enrollment campaign. A pithy “Far from Ordinary” will be printed on what the college releases in hopes of continuing the increase in enrollment. Also very notable, is their offer extended to both Brewster County and the City of Alpine, which would allow them to adopt the tagline as well.
