It was an informative evening as the Alpine Ambassadors hosted a meet and greet for the public on Feb. 24 at the BBT conference room in Alpine. Prospective and current members listened to current members give an overview of their mission, and provide information on the organization’s benefit to Alpine businesses. Dear Neil: I remember reading about something we could apply in spring to prevent sticker burrs. What is it, and when do we apply it? You are talking about pre-emergent weed killers, so named because you apply them before the weed seeds actually germinate, or emerge.
Burr clover can be eliminated with preemergent weedkillers.

It is hard to imagine the excitement news of the discovery of gold in California generated in the country. California, like all the territory gained in the war with Mexico, was unknown and excit ing. When many folks think of pasta dishes, their minds go to the most common. I am talking spaghetti, lasagna, and fettuccine alfredo. These dishes are all quite common place in American homes, and they utilize the extremely popular tomato-based sauce, or the cheese sauce in the case of the alfredo. But there is one sauce, although it does not really resemble a sauce, that is not as common as the two I mentioned above. That is pesto.
