The City of Alpine held its regularly scheduled city council meeting on Sept. 20, and a proposed monument honoring women in the military, code enforcement issues, and a strategic plan for the city drove the discussions.

Storm damaged park roads and trails reopen

Many of the primitive dirt roads and a portion of the paved Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive and Lost Mine Trail at Big Bend National Park have reopened following damage from heavy monsoon rains. High water flows are expected along the Rio Grande.

It came up in the spring, and has grown more rapidly than anything we have ever seen. Should we dig it up and trash it, or will it turn into something desirable?
