“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30) And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20) For he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Hebrews 13:5) There’s nowhere in the Bible where it says that God will not give you more than you can handle. So, does God give us more than we can handle. Yes, he does, and you only have to go to the Bible for examples. Jeremiah was a prophet prior to the Babylonian captivity. He warned the people to repent, but they didn’t listen. Instead, they beat him. They plotted against him. Even his own family rejected him. Emotionally, that was far more than he could handle.

City council discusses HOT funds and begins budget workshop

Body
The City of Alpine held its regularly scheduled city council meeting July 18, as well as its second budget workshop. Mayor Catherine Eaves thanked the council for the streamlining of the recent meetings, sharing a quote passed along from the city secretary, Geoffrey Calderon, “Even though long meetings are often accepted as the norm, we need to acknowledge that drawn-out meetings are bad public policy.” This streamlining effort is due in part to the current budget season occurring for council, with workshops beginning at 3 p.m., the same day as the council meeting.
