SRSU athletic director promoted

Sul Ross State University athlaetic director Amanda Workman has been promoted to Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics. Workman took the position of athletic director in March of 2021.

Commissioners discuss bear safety, new road names, and public services at Marathon meeting

The Brewster County Commissioners Court held a special meeting in Marathon on Tuesday, April 22. All commissioners were present, and Brewster County Judge Greg Henington presided.

Brewster County Commissioner’s Court featured a tour of the Marathon Public Library’s “new face” as part of its commitment to county-wide support. The library has been fundraising to expand its small, 810-foot space to 3,500 square feet.

AISD talks more state funding loss, presents scholarship

The Alpine ISD Board of Trustees held its regular meeting on Wednesday, April 16, in the Library at Alpine Middle School. All board members were present. Despite some good news about grant money, the district is looking at increased state defunding in terms of SHARS (School Health and Related Services) reimbursement.

Joyful kids at annual egg hunt

Child Advocacy brings awareness

The Children’s Advocacy Center of the Big Bend (CACBB) posed for photos and held gatherings in the tri-county area last week to bring awareness to child abuse prevention. INGREDIENTS 1 cup all-purpose flour ¾ cup yellow cornmeal 2 teaspoons baking powder 2 teaspoons cayenne pepper 2 teaspoons fresh ground pepper 2 teaspoons kosher salt 2 cups buttermilk 5 chicken cutlets, halved crosswise 7 cups vegetable oil ¼ cup hot sauce 3 tablespoons honey DIRECTIONS Whisk together dry ingredients in a bowl. Pour buttermilk into a separate bowl.
