City downgrades water restrictions

In a press release sent out by the City of Alpine last Friday afternoon, they announced that while anyone on city water was still under Stage 4 water restrictions, they had received a conditional approval letter related to the drilling of the new Roberts #3 well. City officials said that, based on their current information from their engineering team, drilling activities were anticipated to begin sometime this week.

AMS Buck golf earns some metal in Wink

The Alpine Middle School golf team traveled to Wink on Thursday, May 7, to compete in the junior high Wink Invitational golf tournament. These kids hit the links and came back with some hardware to w for their efforts. Lady Buck Henleigh Anderson took the championship spot, as she brought back a first-place win for Alpine.

Marfa’s Alvarez turns wildcard spot into fourth-place finish at State

Marfa High School junior Ayden Alvarez competed at the UIL State Track and Field Meet on Saturday, May 16, finishing fourth in the shot put with a throw of 49 feet, 3.25 inches. It was a major accomplishment for Alvarez, who entered the competition projected to finish ninth, but instead pushed his way into the top four on the biggest stage of his high school career.
