Taylor’s wife, Dedie, stands proudly next to the plaque honoring her late husband outside the library, along with Friends of the Jeff Davis County Library board member Elaine Harmon. An official proclamation was also read declaring the week of Oct. 17-23 as a county observance in honor of Taylor and commemorating National Friends of Libraries week.

The Halloween themed event featured elementary school teachers and staff with costumes, and Sul Ross State University students helping out with the games. The event was sponsored by Porter’s Thriftway and Out West Feed. The Alpine Police Department was present to watch over the activities.
