Brewster County Commissioners Court held its regularly scheduled meeting on Aug. 9, and approved the proposed 2022 tax rate, certified property values, and tax rate hearing dates.
Marfa has always boasted a rich history and a vibrant arts community, and a much beloved festival is right around the corner, a place where Marfa residents celebrate a tradition every year during Labor Day weekend. This year the festival will be celebrating a special milestone - the 35th anniversary of its inception.

But that link is all too easily broken when adversity or inconvenience comes calling. People all too often give up when difficulty strikes. Adversity tests the resolve of one’s commitment. The Alpine o6 Cowboys ended regular season play with a sevengame home stand against the Austin Weirdos and Weimar Hormigas. Alpine took three of four from Austin, and dropped two of three to Weimar.

Alpine finished the regular season in second place out of eight teams in the Mountain Division with a 32-17 win/loss record. The Garden City Wind (36-10) finished as the Mountain regular season champion with the Trinidad Triggers (25-18) and the Roswell Invaders (27-22) taking third and fourth, respectively.
Alpine Ambassadors, along with Alpine Mayor Catherine Eaves, Alpine council members Martin Sandate, Judy Stokes, and Sara Tandy, all joined in a traditional ribbon cutting to welcome the new Visitor Center pavilion with Center Coordinator Heather Yadon at the open house on July 28.
