Alpine locals to be inducted into Sul Ross Hall of Honor

Sul Ross State University will hold its Hall of Honor ceremony on March 23. In its 36th year, this annual ceremony inducts distinguished graduates and athletes who are nominated and then selected by the SRSU Alumni Board of Directors along with representatives of the Department of Athletics and the College of Agriculture, Life, and Physical Sciences (ALPS).

Varsity girls take gold at home

The Alpine Fightin’ Buck Relays took place this past Saturday at Buck Stadium, with both the JV and Varsity teams all placing in the top five spots overall. The Alpine varsity girls’ track and field team took top honors at home this past weekend, collecting an overall total of 160 points, 43 points ahead of second place Marfa. The varsity boys’ team placed third overall behind Pecos and Presidio, while the JV boys’ team took second place behind Presidio with a total score of 145 points to Presidio’s 197, and the JV girls placed fifth behind Pecos, Presidio, Marathon, and Sanderson.

Lady Bucks softball making strides

Starting March 29, the Lady Bucks softball program competed in the Fox Classic Tournament in El Paso. “The Fox Classic was another great tournament with high-level competition.

Bucks have tough outing on the road

The Alpine Bucks baseball team hit the road to Seminole last weekend for tournament play. They would face the Lovington Wildcats and the Denver City Mustangs on Friday and would follow up with games against Amarillo High and Brownfield on Saturday.

Early voting ends tomorrow

Registered voters interested in casting their votes for the March 5 primary election prior to election day can still do so from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow at the Val Clark Beard Office Complex at 203 N. 7th Street. There will also be early voting available today and tomorrow in Marathon from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Marathon Community Center for Precinct 3 and in Terlingua in precincts 5, 6, and 7 at the J.W. “Red” Pattillo Community Center.
