Fightin’ Buck golf brings home the gold

The Alpine Fightin’ Buck varsity boys’ golf team competed in Wink last week, where they placed first with a combined score of 358. Individually, golfer David Baca also placed first in the tournament, shooting 77.

Cowgirls round-up Lobos in softball

This past weekend the Sul Ross softball team hosted the Hardin-Simmons University Cowgirls for a doubleheader on Friday, followed by a single game on Saturday. During the first Friday game, the Lobos trailed the Cowgirls as the guest team took the lead 2-0 in the first inning.

Dear Neil: How long do I have to wait to know if my lavender lantanas are going to come back after the winter? Trailing lavender lantanas are perhaps the least winterhardy types that we grow. It doesn’t take a very harsh Texas winter to kill out their crowns.
