Armed burglary ends in shooting

On Monday, the Jeff Davis County Sheriff’s Department reported that Valentine ISD was under a lockdown due to the presence of a suspect involved in an armed robbery in the vicinity. The suspect, whose name has not been released at this time, fled the scene, and a vehicle chase ended at FM 505. The suspect fired his weapon at law enforcement, with law enforcement responding in kind, resulting in the elimination of the suspect. Law enforcement from the Marfa Police Department, Presidio County Sheriff’s Department, Texas Department of Public Safety, and U.S. Border Patrol responded to the situation. The investigation has been turned over to the Texas Rangers since the chase ended in an officer-involved shooting.
