Grant serves ISD with classroom enhancement, fine arts, more

The Prentice Farrar Brown and Alline Ford Brown Foundation has announced a historic $650,000 investment in Alpine ISD to enhance student learning experiences across the district. This transformative gift will fund classroom furniture upgrades at Alpine Elementary, expand K–12 fine arts programs, modernize theatre facilities, and provide nationally recognized professional learning for staff.

Paisano to hold girls’ camp in June

Attention all Paisano girls’ camp campers and their parents. Paisano Girls’ Mission Camp will be held this year, June 1-5, at the Davis Mountain Resort Baptist Church just west of Fort Davis. The camp fee is $125 per person, including counselors. The camp will offer Bible Study, Missions time, music, sewing, a tea party, and other favorite activities. Girls having finished second through sixth grade are invited to come be campers, and girls having finished 7th -12th grades are invited to come be junior counselors. On the list of additional activities are movies, board games, talent spotlight, walk to the cross, and more. A nurse will be at the camp 24/7. Buck band receives honors

The Alpine Fightin’ Buck Band recently competed at the Bluebonnet Classic Festival in Burnet. The band received all 1’s from the judges, which earned them the title of Outstanding Band of the Day, along with two trophies to add to their accomplishments.

Native Plant Society to hold cactus program

On Saturday, May 16, at 1 p.m., the Big Bend Chapter of the Native Plant Society of Texas will host a program on cactus and succulent rescue by Steven Lovecky. The event will be held at the Alpine Public Library, and it is open to the public; all are welcome.
