To Forgive and Forget

Body
There is a biblical passage from Isaiah 43 in which God announces, “My people have eyes & ears, but they cannot see or hear.” God goes on to say, “I promised to save you and I kept my promise... Don’t worry about the past... I wipe away your sins because of who I am, and I will forget the wrongs you have done”. It is from these words that we get the common English idiom: “To Forgive and Forget,” but it seems as if its most common use is people saying, “I may forgive but I will never forget.”
