Last week the Lady Bucks volleyball team progressed on the road towards becoming a state qualifier by winning the area competition against the Friona Chieftains 3-0. The Alpine team then entered the regional qualifi ers, in a game against Denver City at Fort Stockton High School on November 7.

The first of the Army Topographical Engineers surveying for a road through the Davis Mountains were Lieutenants Wiliam H.C. Whiting and William F. Smith (1849), both serving under Colonel Joseph E. Johnston, senior engineer in Texas.

Alpine’s Artwalk is back in celebration for its 30th anniversary. This year, the event is set to light up Alpine on November 17- 18 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. promising a weekend filled with art, music, and unforgettable experiences.
