Alpine Humane Society Pets of the Week are kittens! The shelter currently has more than eight kittens like Edgar. Kittens are always best adopted in pairs and Edgar has siblings who are just as cute and charming as he is.

The Center for Land Stewardship and Stakeholder Engagement at Borderlands Research Institute (BRI) at Sul Ross State University has streamlined its application process for cost share conservation programs.

The Boquillas port of entry, located within the boundaries of Big Bend National Park will begin their summer hours starting on May 1. This port of entry provides access to the town of Boquillas, Coahuila, Mexico, as well as other protected areas within Mexico such as Maderas del Carmen and Ocampo.

Big Bend National Park will be conducting a 149-acre prescribed burn near the Rio Grande May 1-5 . This burn is to help control the exotic giant cane that grows along the river corridor and affects native habitat.

Sarah Whitson Bourbon, 76, of Terlingua passed away on March 30, at her home in Terlingua. Sarah was born September 12, 1946, to Caroline and John Whitson in Denton.

Judith Ann Parsons, 80, of Alpine, passed away April 3, in Amarillo. Born in Canyon, Judy was a beloved sister, aunt, and teacher.
