Body The Brewster County Commissioner’s Court held their regularly scheduled meeting Jan. 10. Commissioner Pct. 3, Ruben Ortega conducted the meeting, as new County Judge Greg Henington was completing training for his new position.

Body The Alpine City Council held its’ regularly scheduled meeting Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m. Of importance on the agenda were comments and updates on the city infrastructure as well as upcoming legislation currently introduced during the 88th legislative session in Austin.

Body Last Tuesday the Alpine Lady Bucks traveled to Stanton to take on the Lady Buffs in a district matchup. The Lady Buffs jumped out to an early lead, but the Lady Bucks battled the first half keeping the game close. The Lady Bucks would go into halftime down 2620.

Body This year’s Tornillo Coyotes have a new coach in Luis Vega, but basketball fans who thought the Coyotes might be down this season because of it have been in for a rude awakening. The Coyotes visited Alpine on Jan.

Body It was a historic day for Julian Paredes. Entering the contest against East Texas Baptist, Paredes was just 20 points away from joining the 1,000-point club.
