Boquillas crossing posts new winter hours

The Boquillas Port of Entry within Big Bend National Park, providing access to the town of Boquillas, Coahuila, Mexico, as well as the Mexican Protected Areas of Maderas del Carmen and Ocampo, will change to the winter schedule beginning Wednesday, November 2. The crossing will be open five days a week, Wednesdays through Sundays.

WEEK Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Alonzo. Alonzo is a sensitive and intelligent dog. He was a bit shy on his first days in the Shelter but is coming out of his shell. So far, he has a couple of female companions with which he feels comfortable.

Former Hollywood actor recalls filming in Shafter

The Big Bend’s vast landscape has served as an inspirational backdrop for filmmakers and actors, including many who have honed their creativity in the high desert. Classic Western films such as the iconic “Giant,” was filmed in Marfa in the 1950s, and more recently,“No Country for Old Men” and “The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada” were both filmed on location at Big Bend National Park and Lajitas.
