Fort Davis barbecue team rolls to the top

Everyone loves a good Texas barbecue, and a Fort Davis couple has gone beyond by participating in competitive barbecue competitions all over the state and country, with plenty of awards and bragging rights to show off back home.

Storm damage to trail and drive

Last week heavy rains resulted in damage to both the Lost Mine Trail and the Ross Maxwell Scenic Drive. The Lost Mine will remain closed until crews can repair a damaged section of switchbacks. The Ross Maxwell Drive is now closed south of Mule Ears Overlook due to damage and debris.

Open house sessions at the new high school

Alpine High School will host two open house sessions on Monday, Sept. 12. The first session from 5-6 p.m. is for the general public to see the new space, and is open to everyone in Alpine. The second session from 6-7 p.m. is for parents and students.
