Keep trail open, please

There has been talk of closing access to Big Bend National Park area where that terrible act of vandalism took place by some thoughtless, immature, and disrespectful people. To the authorities of the park, I beg them not to close it and here is why.

My mother and father keep our old photos in their hall closet in a sturdy old Pabst Blue Ribbon box. Sifting through old photos is a glorious experience - one, we now know, that relieves aches and pains by calming the brain, according to a recent study.

Thirteen apprehended south of Alpine

On March 22, Brewster County deputies and U.S. Border Patrol agents began tracing a group of suspects through mountainous terrain south of Alpine. By late afternoon, assisted by DPS Air Operations, the group of 13 illegal aliens from Mexico were apprehended. The suspects were referred to Border Patrol for processing and deportation. On March 19 family and friends of longtime Big Bend National Park resident Eduardo Gonzalez hosted a pulled pork sandwich benefit for medical and travel expenses. Benefits in February and March raised a total of $8,000 to help the family. The definition of spice is an aromatic or pungent vegetable substance used to flavor food. I mean, quite frankly, where would we be without the use of spices for our food? Bland. That is where we would be, and nobody wants bland food unless of course they have a medical condition requiring them to eat bland food.
