On Nov. 6 Alpine Lions Club held its first annual golf tournament at Alpine Country Club with proceeds benefitting Lions Club activities in the community. Finishing in first place were Eduardo Barraza, Miggy Vega, Chris Martínez, and George Bradley. In second place were Jerry Reinberg, Alonso Adame, Tony Molinar, and JJ Alvarado; and in third place, Blake Moody, Sam Nicholas, Randy Sanchez, and Daniel Platt. Nov. 11, Veterans Day, is a day set aside to show appreciation for all who have served in the military. More than just a national holiday, Veterans Day is a celebration to honor those who proudly served, and were willing to sacrifice for the common good.

The homecoming night the win for the Fightin’ Buck football team was never in doubt. A better question was who would be Homecoming King, quarterback Jayden Canaba or do-it-all Aiden Morrissey? Canaba was the choice by the way, and Alpine cruised 73-0 over the Odessa Compass Cougars behind four interception returns for touchdowns.

Lady Bucks season comes to an end

The Alpine Lady Buck season came to an end on Nov. 1 in Andrews after a hard fought loss. Andrews was a neutral zone for the Lady’s to take on an old rival from yesteryear, the Littlefield Wildcats, in Bi-District play.

On Thursday, Nov. 11, Alpine ISD will honor our veterans at our annual Veterans Day program. This event is one of our most anticipated community gatherings. We take great pride in this opportunity to thank each veteran for everything they have done for our wonderful county.

Alpine Humane Society Pet of the Week is Homer, a black and white male kitten born in late April 2021. He and his brother Kenai are almost identical twins. We always must look twice to see who we are playing with.
