Just when Covid-19 appears to have slowed down due to folks taking advantage of the free vaccine, the CDC has announced a new strain is on the rise, and it is highly contagious.

The City of Alpine continues to run normally thanks in part to Interim City Manager Megan Antrim and City Secretary Geo Calderon, along with city council members who have teamed up to insure that city services continue to be adequately provided to the residents of Alpine.

The city council will soon began the task of working on a balanced budget for the upcoming fiscal year to insure your tax dollars are well spent. For the past few years, Alpine has had a wellbalanced budget as proven by our annual audits.

The rains finally decided to pay us a visit with much needed precipitation. Unfortunately it came a little late for some area ranchers who had to sell their livestock early. Our area creeks are running high, and Alpine Police have barricaded the low water crossings in the city for your safety.

A word of caution - do not try to go around the barricades! It could result in injury or cost you your life. Should you get caught, there are severe penalties and fines. Please use good judgment, and take alternate routes.

The rains came and went on Sunday just in time for the Fourth of July Parade and fireworks to go on as scheduled, much to the delight of our citizens and visitors. There was an overflow of folks at Kokernot Park enjoying themselves.

Vacation is upon us, so enjoy, have fun, and be safe!
