It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, Maria Louisa Martinez, on April 30, 2026, at the age of 88.

Born on January 22, 1938, in Alpine, she lived a long and meaningful life filled with love, faith, and devotion to her family.

She is survived by her sister, Olivia Rios from Odessa, children: Sandra (Richard) Maynard, Nelda (Miguel) Terrazas, Deborah Martinez, LaNell (Guero) Herrera, and Lionel Martinez Jr. (Celia). Grandchildren: Richard Maynard, Syndy Maynard, Jeffrey Munoz, Faith Herrera, and Adam Herrera. Great Grandchildren: Azzy Munoz, Anthony Munoz, Xyla Maynard, and Ava Martinez.

She is now reunited in eternal Peace with her beloved husband of 55 years, Lionel P. Martinez, and many extended family and friends.

Visitation was held from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. with a Vigil at 6 p.m., Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at Sunset Funeral Home – East, 750 N. Carolina Dr. Funeral Mass was held at 9:30 a.m., Thursday, May 14, 2026, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 1050 N. Clark. Interment followed at 11 a.m. at Evergreen East Cemetery, 12400 Montana.
