Eveline Helen Bell of El Paso, Texas, passed away Dec. 31, 2020, at her home following an illness. She was 88 years old. She was born in 1932 in Waidhofen an der Ybbs, Austria, to Hermann and Anna Maria Tobisch Maderthaner. Part of her childhood was spent with her maternal grandparents in Rudolecz, Czechoslovakia,.
Following World War II, she trained as a professional seamstress in Vienna, finishing in Paris. She married Robert H. Bell, Sr., of Louisville, Miss., in 1952. They moved to El Paso in 1961. Her career as a dressmaker spanned 30 years. She worked with Amen Wardy Couture at the Popular and Dillards department stores, and also freelance. Her specialty was wedding gowns. Her artistry was reflected in her beautiful home as well.
She is survived by her three sons and their families, Robert H. “Bob” Bell, Jr., grandson Max, and daughter-in-law Melleta; Charles Bell and wife Susan, grandson Jesse and wife Kaya, and great grandchildren Evi Grace and Graham; granddaughter Alyssa; David Bell and wife Jacq. She was preceded in death by her husband, her mother, and her beloved stepfather Tony Kaufmann.
She was a lover of dogs especially her schnauzers Nikki, Hexi, and Putzi. She enjoyed her travels in Europe, Mexico, and the American Southwest, and embraced her adopted Texas.
Memorials may be made to a local food bank, the ASPCA, or an organization of one's choice. Per her wishes, no services are planned.
The family is especially appreciative of the many kindnesses and considerations of caregivers, friends, neighbors, and extended family.
