Our beloved aunt Angie Martinez entered into eternal rest on December 31, 2025. She was 92 years old. Angie was born to Patricio Martinez and Esther Sotelo Martinez on June 1, 1933, in Alpine. She attended Centennial School, followed by Alpine High School. A graduate of Sul Ross State University with a master’s degree in education, Angie enjoyed working with her cousin Frank Sotelo at Foothills Food Market. After these endeavors, she

followed her passion for teaching in the following school districts: El Paso ISD, Socorro ISD, Alpine ISD, Pecos ISD, and Presidio ISD for numerous years. Angie briefly left her teaching career at Socorro ISD to return to Alpine to care for her ailing lovely mother, Esther.

This was one of her greatest devotions in her life. Angie was known for helping her community in Alpine in various events, helping kindly the elderly and needy, and also involved in the political world where needed. She was a devoted Catholic, a lady of strong faith until her last days. She was an elated lady when she hosted Pachanga gatherings at Wella and Wello’s house, seeing her siblings, nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends from near and far places. Not to mention, she was an avid casino enthusiast.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Patricio Martinez and Esther Martinez. Her sisters and brothers: Beatrice Villanueva, Mary Alvarado, Ofelia Macias, Robert Martinez, Pat Martinez Jr., Enedina Peterson, as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews to cherish her memories: Wanda Gonzales, Robert Martínez Jr., Esther Garza, Patsy Martínez, Randy Martínez; Frank Villanueva, Dolores Villanueva, and Kathy Villanueva; Sammy Alvarado; Orlando Macías, Norma Cruz, and Michael Macías; Eileen Lefler and Maureen Mahoney.

Services will be held on February 21, 2026, at our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine. A Holy Rosary will be held at 9:30 a.m., followed by a eulogy mass at 10:15 a.m. Angie will be laid to rest at Holy Angels Cemetery, next to her mother.

We deeply appreciate the love and support shown to our family. Thank you for honoring Angie Martinez with us and for the beautiful memories we all shared.
