Recently passed legislation authorized West Texas VA Health Care System in Big Spring to offer the COVID-19 vaccination to all veterans, with few exceptions, even if they are not enrolled in VA health care.

Proof of veteran status will be requested, but nearly every veteran can now receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

“We’re excited to offer the vaccine to nearly all Veterans, regardless of whether or not they are enrolled in VA health care,” said Michael Cole, Chief of Communication for the VA System. “Also, with the addition of the Janssen vaccine, veterans have a choice of which vaccine they receive.”

In addition to the Moderna vaccine, the VA System is offering the Janssen COVID-19 vaccination following the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s emergency use authorization for this vaccine.
